An Exciting Milestone for Plastic Police
Another exciting milestone for the Plastic Police® program and a great opportunity to continue to make a difference in tackling plastic waste in the Hunter Region (and beyond) and developing circular economy solutions.
On Tuesday, 9th October 2018, Greg Piper MP presented Director and founder of Plastic Police®, Samantha Cross (Cross Connections) a grant for $150,000 from the State Government’s ‘Waste Less Recycle More’ program. The grant was awarded for Plastic Police® to conduct a new regional project.
The Plastic Police® regional project will engage with businesses and councils within the Hunter region to collect and divert soft plastics from landfill. The collected soft plastics will be turned into new and useful products such as asphalt, decking, wheel stops and outdoor furniture that can be purchased by businesses and councils.
Plastic Police® close the loop on problematic soft plastics which are becoming a major waste problem to our environment. We need to address the catastrophic impact plastics and micro-plastics are having on our environment.
To all those that have been part of the journey or shown support over the years, thank you.
